Sunday 23rd August saw the annual ladies softball cricket festival at ChristletonCC. Gresford Belles were drawn in a group with THE FLEDGELINGS (Teachers!) and the hosts THE CHRISTLETON SWANS.

The first match was against the Fledgelings. After winning the toss captain Mia PARRY elected to bat first and her team put on a total of 55-1 runs in six overs. The whole team contributed runs with the bat and the score quickly rose.

Bowling GCC conceded on 33 runs for a well earned victory. The pick of the bowlers were Libby and Scarlett conceding just one run each in their respective overs.

The second game was against the hosts Christleton Swans where we were put into bat first. The pick of the batters were Lindsay and Amanda who put on 35 from just two overs, bringing the total to 60-1. Bowling second the hosts were restricted to 47 with some very tight bowling by the whole team.

As we were top of the group the finalists were decided on the highest run rate of the ten teams, which meant we faced Elworth CC to decide winners and runners up in the eight a side final. GCC batted first and put on 46-2 with runs shared around the team.

The Cheshire League side ran out winners ending their innings on 62-2. Credit must go to the captain Mia for her bowling performance taking two wickets for three runs in her first over.
