Gresford batted first as the away side and first in were Ellory (21) and Evan (15) with the loss of only one wicket seeing GCC off to a strong start. With only four deliveries in their four overs faced that were dot balls, there intensity and strong running between the wickets shone through.

The second pair into bat were Sophia (3) and Hollie (18) and were keen to keep the scoreboard ticking along. Despite losing three wickets their positivity and courage to push the fielding side was admirable.

Third pair Elsa (9) and Mia (21) showed a steely determination to score at every opportunity. In the heat of the contest some terrific cricket shots were on show, particularly a textbook cover drive from Elsa, which earned her a single run and much appreciation from the enthusiastic crowd... and the coaches!! The two wickets lost during those four overs were because of positive intent.

Last in were Ellory (11) and Hollie (12) who lost only two wickets in their push for as many runs as possible bringing the final team total to 83 runs.

A great deal of praise must go to the players (and parents) as some had played matches earlier in the afternoon, some at athletic meetings and others travelling some distance to even make the game. The match was played in a terrific spirit and to a remarkably close finish with Pont making 78 when batting second. The pick of our bowlers was Ellory with figures of 3 overs, 1 double wicket maiden, 3 wickets for 19 runs.
