Gresford Vs Marcwheil

Another great performance

Mondays soon come around! Every week a new challenge. On the menu this glorious evening Marcwheil Cricket Club.
Gresford were on the road for a second consecutive week. The bank holiday affecting availability, left Gresford one short, the mighty 7 enthralled with the task ahead.
The boys geared up, pumped to face the newest team on the fixture list.
Opening batsmen Alfie and Mason, set about getting Gresford off to a healthy start. The dynamic duo fended off some tricky bowling, hoping to keep a clean sheet. Alfie moving around the wicket well, met bat with bat defending his stumps with determination, Alfie linked this with his cricketing knowledge to find gaps in the field. Mason teamed up with his partner nicely, tickling the ball onto the leg side working with Alfie running 1s and 2s. Looking ever more comfortable with bat in hand.
Solid start, 4 overs down no wickets lost 12 runs scored.
Backing up Alfie and Masons innings Haydn and Eddie. The boys looked to continue positive batting and clever play. They did just that Haydn attacking the ball on both the front and back foot was able to pierce the infield sprinting to score fast. Some excellent decision making, saw Hadyn creep his run tally up for the season. Eddie starred with the bat for Gresford, 29 runs. Waiting for the ideal ball he rocked back and BOOM 6, followed by another 6, taking the game to Marcwheil Eddie looked fantastic!
The score rocketed up to 252 for 1.
Under pressure next, James and Harry N. Marcwheil bowled some excellent lines all of which Harry found an answer for. Bat and pad creating a solid wall. You shall not pass! Keeping Gresfords wickets down to a minimum he assisted his team in their run persuit. James kept the scoreboard ticking over with some tidy batting himself, pushing forward and driving saw mid off and on dropped back, leaving the quick single open. Clever batting, James kept the ball along the ground, making sure he profited from some superb shots.
Taking on the mantle of batting at the end was Harry I, what a job he did. No pressure on this boys shoulders, looking good with bat in hand. Dotting the ball around the field Harry ran well and took advantage of the large boundary set, pairing up with his partners well.
All in all a great start Gresford 275 with only one loss of wicket. Da Iawn !
The boys refuelled and had a quick tram talk. This week putting on the gloves was James. First time this season, and James reacted well, stopping everything on the off side he helped his team keep the run rate down. Well done!
The prestigious task of opening the bowling was given to Eddie, new ball in hand he set about his work. 3 overs for Eddie with just 1 run of the bat, set a very high standard for his team to follow. Fast lines and accurate bowling saw the ball wizz past bat on repeat.
Harry N, Gresford's next spinner set about his work, turning his wrist over the ball, Harry made the most of the Marcwheil pitch spinning it like a washing machine. His two overs only saw 1 run come off the bat another confident spell for the away team.
Third up to bowl Alfie, starting well Alfie found his rhythm picking up his bowling skills quickly. Each ball bowled with lots of energy, and he was rewarded bowling his first maiden over for Gresford, a big achievement for any young bolwer. Well done you !
Haydn was given the ball next, and set about his work nicely, the Marchwiel sun making it ever harder to see down the other end, Haydn soldiers on, his first over a wicket madien, WOW what a start, adding another wicket to his tally for the season. Haydn helped Gresford stay on the front foot.
The game was drawing to an end, Gresford were in a fight for this one. The bowling needed to be exceptional. No pressure !!
Up stepped Mason, over one steady just one run given to the home side, over two BANG, 3 wickets, yes thats right 3 wickets. What an over. The Marchwiel batsmen didn't know what had hit them, great bowling, another big achievement.
Harry I was last to step up to the wicket, not letting his team take all the spot light the young debutant found joy outside off stump, bowling delivery after delivery on a good line frustrated the home side. His two over just 4 from the bat.
Gresford had played a blinder! The best bowling display I have seen for a long time.
Marchwiel 236 for 4. Another win for the ever improving GCC.
Man of the Match.
Boy was it hard to single out 1, it was that difficult there were 2.
Eddie on form with the bat, making England's T20 side look average took the first player of the match.
And with some exquisite bowling Mason takes the second player of match. Hatrick of wickets with some amazing bowling.
Well done boys.
